Chapter 7 - The Parking Garage

Julian waited beside Elena’s car.

She saw him too late.

“You won’t answer me.”

Elena backed away.

“You’re violating the temporary order.”

“I need five minutes.”

“No.”

She reached for her phone.

Julian grabbed it.

Elena shoved him.

“Give it back!”

He caught her shoulders.

“You ruined me!”

“You ruined yourself.”

He slammed her against the car.

Elena drove her knee upward and tore free.

Julian grabbed her dress.

The fabric ripped.

She swung her handbag into his shoulder and screamed for help.

Julian lunged again.

This time Elena struck him across the face with the bag and ran between two vehicles.

A security guard appeared.

Julian chased her.

The guard intercepted him.

Julian shoved the guard.

The two men crashed against a parked SUV.

Another guard joined.

Julian fought wildly, throwing an elbow and knocking one man backward before both guards forced him to the pavement.

Elena stood several yards away, shaking.

Julian looked up at her.

“I loved you!”

Elena’s eyes filled with tears.

“No. You loved controlling the version of me that kept forgiving you.”

Police arrested him.

The incident was captured by three cameras.

Julian could no longer claim Elena had invented his violence.

And for the first time since the bedroom, she slept through the night.
