Chapter 6 – The Voice From the Dead
Thomas Morales had left one final clue.
During another search of Room 914, forensic technicians discovered a digital voice recorder hidden inside an air vent.
Most files were corrupted.
Only one recording survived.
Thomas's frightened voice filled the room.
"If you're hearing this... I may already be dead."
Everyone froze.
"They've been running a child trafficking network for years using fake adoption records."
"Marta isn't the leader."
"She's terrified of someone."
A second voice interrupted.
Male.
Calm.
Cold.
"You should have taken the money."
The recording ended with shouting...
A chair falling...
Then silence.
Forensic analysts enhanced the audio.
The mysterious man's watch chimed every hour.
A rare Swiss watch.
Only a few hundred existed.
