Chapter 7 - The Reconstruction of Family

Within forty-eight hours of Victoria’s arrest, the Swiss federal courts formally invalidated all fraudulent foreign guardianship claims.
The Fairfield District Family Court held an emergency expedited hearing. With the verified 99.99% DNA match, the unredacted original cryo-preservation agreements, and the complete elimination of all third-party claims, Judge Vance issued an absolute, permanent decree declaring Leo Nathan Carter the lawful, legitimate, and sole biological son and heir of Nathan Carter.
Across town at Bridgeport Hospital, Dr. Vance successfully completed Helen’s complex cardiac bypass surgery. Within two weeks, Helen was discharged into full recovery, her heart function completely restored.
I did not let them return to the dilapidated apartment in Bridgeport.
I purchased a magnificent, sun-drenched four-bedroom Victorian estate situated on three private acres in Greenwich, less than five minutes from my own manor. The property featured rolling green lawns, blooming flower gardens, and a private guest cottage. I established a full medical endowment to cover Helen’s ongoing physical therapy and hired a full-time domestic care team to support her.
For Lily, I set up the Lily Vance Educational Trust, endowing fifteen million dollars to guarantee her private academy tuition, university funding, and complete financial independence for life.
On a bright, crisp Saturday morning in November, I drove Lily and Helen to their new home.
When Lily ran through the front door, seeing her bright, sunny bedroom with a canopy bed, shelves of storybooks, and a window seat overlooking the gardens, she stopped, her eyes wide with tears of pure wonder.
"Is this really our house, Mr. Carter?" Lily whispered, clutching my hand.
May you like
"It’s yours, Lily," I smiled, kneeling down to look into her warm brown eyes. "You and your grandmother will always have a fortress of your own. But you are always welcome at the manor."
Lily threw her small arms around my neck, hugging me with fierce, sweet devotion. "Thank you, Nathan."
