Chapter 3 - The Doorway StandoffDeputy Collins reached for his heavy leather holster, his hand hovering over his weapon as he raised his boot to kick the front door frame.
WOOO-ROOO-ROOO!
Red and blue strobe lights suddenly exploded through the trees lining my driveway!
Four blacked-out suburban SUVs screeched onto the lawn, blocking Derek’s vehicle from behind! Eight tactical FBI agents in heavy body armor, weapons drawn, rushed up the stone steps!
“FBI! HANDS ON YOUR HEADS! DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW!” Agent Vance shouted through a megaphone!
Deputy Collins went deathly pale, dropping his flashlight and putting his hands up instantly. “I’m a sworn officer! I was just responding to a domestic call!”
“Shut your mouth, Collins!” Agent Vance commanded, as two agents slammed Collins against the brick wall, snapping steel handcuffs around his wrists!
Derek stood frozen in sheer, disbelieving horror as an agent forced him down onto his knees on the wet gravel porch.
“What is the meaning of this?!” Derek shrieked, struggling against the restraints. “Do you know who I am?! I contribute millions to the Governor’s campaign! Call my attorney!”

Agent Vance stepped up to Derek, pulling a sealed envelope from his tactical vest.
“Derek Vale,” Vance declared coldly. “You are under arrest for federal extortion, bribing a law enforcement officer, and lead conspiracy in a multi-million-dollar money laundering syndicate.”
