Chapter 7 - EMERGENCY ROOM ARRIVAL
Before Nora could press record on her phone, the front driveway gravel crunched loudly under the tires of a fast-moving vehicle. A white SUV slammed to a halt, and Aunt Sophie burst through the front door, followed closely by two local police officers she had managed to flag down on her way from Riverside Hospital.
Sophie took one look at my flushed, sweating face and the empty insulin pens in the sink, and her professional ER demeanor snapped into absolute fury. “Nora Marie, step away from the counter right now,” Sophie commanded, her voice echoing off the white kitchen walls. Nora froze, her phone slipping from her hand as the police officers moved swiftly past her, securing the counter and immediately radioing for an emergency paramedic unit.
