Chapter 10 - POLICE INTERVENTION AND THE PHONE SEIZURE

The police officers didn't hesitate. Nora’s phone was formally seized as evidence of a felony crime. The officers also bagged the shattered insulin vials, the empty pen casings from the garbage disposal, and my backup supplies as physical proof of tampering.
When informed of her rights, Nora tried to stammer out a defense, claiming I was "overreacting" and that she was "just joking," but the officer cut her off mid-sentence. “Tampering with prescription life-support medication with intent to cause bodily harm is a class-level felony, Miss,” the officer stated, snapping steel handcuffs around her wrists. As she was led out of the kitchen past our weeping mother, she threw one final, venomous glare in my direction, proving she felt no remorse—only anger that she had been caught.
