Chapter 8 - The Mountain Wedding

On a magnificent, sun-drenched Saturday in June, our wedding took place in an open meadow overlooking the Boulder Flatirons.

The arbor was hand-crafted by Julian from reclaimed cedar, draped in white mountain roses, blooming sage, and trailing evergreen vines.

Over one hundred of our closest friends, colleagues, Detective Chloe Parker, and Marcus Sterling sat beneath the clear azure sky.

I walked down the grass aisle in a custom-tailored ivory lace gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a flowing cathedral veil that danced in the alpine breeze.

Julian stood at the altar in a bespoke charcoal suit, his eyes glistening with profound emotion as I reached his side.

He took my hands into his, lifting my veil with infinite gentleness.

"Maya," Julian spoke during his vows, his voice steady and clear. "You taught me that true strength is born in the courage to rise from the ashes. I vow to honor you, support your dreams, and love you with every beat of my heart, for all eternity."

"Julian," I replied, my voice sweet and resonant. "You gave me a safe harbor, a true partner, and a love that is pure, patient, and brave. I am yours, completely and forever."

When the minister pronounced us husband and wife, Julian pulled me into a passionate, breathtaking kiss beneath the warm Colorado sun, while our guests erupted into thunderous, standing cheers.
