Chapter 10 - The Empire of Light

One year after the cold threshold.

The gardens of the Vale International estate were filled with the warm, gentle light of a late summer afternoon. The air was sweet with the scent of blooming jasmine, and the sound of children's laughter drifted from the lawn.

I sat on a wooden bench, watching Leo and Noah take their first wobbly steps on the thick, green grass, their hands held tightly by Emily and Maria. They were strong, healthy, and surrounded by a love that no amount of money could buy.

Marcus walked up, handing me a glass of iced tea. "The launch of the Twin Wings Initiative was a massive success, Evelyn. We raised over fifty million dollars for the shelters in the first month alone."

"That's beautiful, Marcus," I said, smiling as I watched Noah chase a yellow butterfly. "That's the real ledger. That’s the only number that actually matters."

I looked out at the clear, bright horizon. I had built an eight-billion-dollar empire, but my true wealth was standing right in front of me on the grass.

I had proven to the world, and to myself, that a woman's value is not determined by the name she carries or the home she lives in. It is determined by the strength of her heart, the depth of her grace, and her unshakeable refusal to let the coldness of the world extinguish her light.

I stood up, walking onto the lawn, and opened my arms as my boys ran toward me, their faces lit with pure, uncompromised joy.

"I've got you, my sweet boys," I whispered, holding them tight against my chest. "You're safe now. Mom's got you."
