Chapter 9 - The ConfrontationThe path forward wasn't without hurdles.
In late February, news of Teresa’s relationship with a small-town mechanic leaked to the business press. Elitist board members at Vance Development questioned her judgment, and her former fiancé, a cold corporate lawyer named Julian, tried to use the situation to force a vote of no confidence.
At a high-stakes board meeting in the city, Julian stood up in front of thirty shareholders.
“Teresa is letting personal emotions cloud her financial decisions!” Julian declared sharply. “She handed a lucrative fleet contract to an unproven country mechanic!”
Teresa stood up, radiating calm authority.
She pressed a button, displaying the quarterly fleet performance report on the large projector screen.
“In two months,” Teresa stated coldly, “Ramón’s facility has reduced our fleet downtime by 40% and cut maintenance costs by $150,000. He hasn't just met our standards—he’s exceeded every corporate provider we’ve ever hired.”

She looked Julian dead in the eye. “He earned that contract with skill and integrity. Two things you know nothing about.”
The room erupted in applause, silencing Julian completely.
