Chapter 7 - The Revelation in the Nursery

An hour later, the black SUV convoy pulled back through the iron gates of Rinaldi Manor.
I stood on the front steps in the cold wind, shivering in panic. The moment the SUV door opened and Lucia stepped out uninjured, I collapsed to my knees on the gravel, pulling my daughter into my arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Mommy! I'm okay! Marco protected me!" Lucia cried, kissing my wet cheeks.
Marco walked up, his eyes shining with pride as I wrapped my other arm around him, pulling him into our embrace. "Thank you, Marco. Thank you for saving my baby."
"She’s my sister, Serena," Marco said softly. "I protect my family."
That evening, after Dr. Harrison examined both children and confirmed they had suffered zero injuries, the manor settled into an atmosphere of quiet, profound peace.
All five children fell asleep together in the large nursery suite, curled beneath plush fleece blankets, exhausted from the day's ordeal.
I sat in the rocking chair beside the cribs, watching their steady, rhythmic breathing.
The door opened softly, and Victor stepped inside. He had changed into a comfortable dark cashmere sweater, his face bearing the marks of a man who had fought a war and brought his world back from the brink.
He walked over to the rocking chair, extending his hand.
I took it, and he gently led me out onto the moonlit terrace overlooking the ocean.
"They're safe, Serena," Victor whispered, pulling me against his chest.
"Because of you, Victor," I breathed, resting my head over his steady, beating heart. "You risked everything to save my daughter."
Victor looked down into my eyes, his hands gently framing my face.
"I didn't just save your daughter, Serena," Victor said, his deep voice thick with raw, beautiful vulnerability. "You brought light into a house that had been cold and dead for three years. You gave my sons a mother, you gave my home a soul, and you gave me the courage to love again. I love you, Serena. With everything I have."
Tears of boundless, overwhelming happiness streamed down my cheeks.

"I love you too, Victor," I whispered.
Victor leaned down, pressing his lips against mine in a tender, passionate kiss beneath the starry night sky, sealing an unbreakable bond forged in the fires of devotion.
