Chapter 10 - The Master's Table

Two years later, golden late-afternoon sunlight poured through the French doors of Rinaldi Manor.

The great dining room was alive with the rich, mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked lasagna, roasted garlic bread, and warm cannoli.

Sitting around the grand marble dining table—now decorated with colorful children’s drawings and fresh sunflowers—were ten-year-old Marco, nine-year-old Lucia, eight-year-old Nico, and six-year-old twins Sofia and Matteo.

They were laughing, passing dishes of warm pasta, and chattering excitedly about Marco’s upcoming Little League championship game.

Sitting in a high chair at the end of the table, giggling happily as he smeared tomato sauce on his cheeks, was our one-year-old baby boy, Leo.

I walked out from the kitchen, wearing a comfortable white sundress, carrying a fresh bowl of Parmesan cheese, and sat beside Victor at the head of the table.

Victor reached over, taking my hand in his, his thumb gently stroking my wedding band. He looked around the table at his six happy, healthy children, his heart overflowing with an unshakeable, everlasting peace.

I remembered that rainy evening three years ago—standing outside the gates with thirty-six dollars in my bank account, watching a terrified nanny sprint into the storm, wondering if I had the strength to save my daughter.

I had believed I was walking into a hopeless battle.

I had never known that love, patience, and a simple bowl of warm carbonara had the power to conquer the darkest grief, dismantle every enemy, and build an unbreakable empire of joy.

Victor leaned over, kissing my temple softly as the children burst into another chorus of happy laughter.

The storms of the past had vanished forever. In their place stood a magnificent, eternal dawn—and our family was finally, gloriously whole.
