Chapter 4 - The Coast Guard InterceptWhile officers secured the deck, two tactical medics rushed to Andrea’s side, applying emergency dressings to her face and wrists.

I ran to the locked master cabin door, grabbing a steel fire axe from the emergency bulkhead mount.

CRASH! CRASH!

With two powerful swings, I splintered the heavy oak lock. The door swung open to reveal a horrifying sight.

Peyton, my chief financial officer, was collapsed against the far wall, her hands bound with zip-ties, a severe laceration across her shoulder where Daniel had struck her. Beside her sat a locked aluminum briefcase containing original thumb drives and paper ledgers.

“Arthur...” Peyton gasped, coughing as the fresh air hit her face. “The ledgers... I saved the hard drives. He siphoned fifteen million dollars...”

“Save your breath, Peyton,” I said gently, cutting her zip-ties with a pocket knife. “You’re safe now. The Coast Guard has the boat.”

The tactical medics stabilized Peyton and Andrea, lifting them into rescue harnesses as the helicopter hoisted them safely up to the aircraft for immediate transport to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

As Daniel was dragged toward the Coast Guard cutter in heavy iron chains, he glared at me, his face contorted in pathetic, helpless rage.

“You won’t get away with this, Quinn!” Daniel screamed over the engine noise. “My lawyers will have me out by morning!”

I stepped to the railing, looking down at him with cold, unshakeable satisfaction.

“Your lawyers won’t be able to pay their own fees, Daniel,” I replied softly. “Because as of five minutes ago, every bank account bearing your name has been seized.”
