Chapter 7 - The Blame Game

The tension inside the mansion reached a boiling point a few days later during an afternoon gathering where Khloe was hosting several high-society girlfriends to discuss final wedding table settings. The room was filled with expensive floral arrangements, expensive champagne, and loud, superficial chatter.
While gesturing excitedly during a conversation about designer dresses, one of Khloe’s wealthy friends accidentally knocked over a massive, expensive crystal vase filled with imported white roses. The heavy glass shattered on the marble floor, sending water and stems scattering in every direction.
An awkward silence fell over the group. Everyone in the room saw precisely who knocked it over. But instead of taking responsibility, Khloe’s face flushed with irritation, and her eyes immediately locked onto Eleanor, who was standing nearby with a dusting cloth.

“Look what you did!” Khloe snapped loudly, pointing an accusing finger directly at Eleanor to save face in front of her elite friends. “Clumsy and careless! Clean this up immediately!”
The visiting socialites stared awkwardly, some looking uncomfortable while others quickly chimed in with snide remarks about hired help lacking basic competence. Eleanor didn't blink. She calmly walked forward, knelt on the hard floor, and began picking up the shattered glass shards one by one, letting Khloe enjoy her fleeting moment of false superiority.
