Chapter 4 - The First Test of ControlThat very first morning set the tone for what Eleanor would endure over the following days. Tasked with scrubbing the sprawling entryway floors, Eleanor knelt down with her cleaning supplies, ensuring every square inch met the pristine standards of the estate.

When Khloe walked past a second time, she stopped, pointed the toe of her designer heel at a completely spotless section of the floor, and declared, “You missed a spot right there.”

Eleanor looked closely at the polished stone; it was immaculate, reflecting the crystal chandelier above like a mirror. It became glaringly obvious that this was never about cleanliness or maintenance. It was entirely about dominance and control. Khloe derived a quiet, malicious pleasure from exerting power over someone she believed could never talk back.

“I understand,” Eleanor replied smoothly, wiping the spot again without a hint of defiance.

Khloe smiled, a cold, self-satisfied smirk touching her lips. “Do you really? Because people of your background rarely seem to grasp basic instructions on the first try.”

Eleanor remained silent. She did not argue or defend herself, because she knew that every harsh, unprovoked jab was another brick building the undeniable case against Khloe's character. She was not there to win a petty argument; she was there to gather absolute proof before her son tied his life to a wolf in sheep's clothing.
