Chapter 8 - The Fall of the SyndicateWith Victor Sokolov’s strike team captured and handed over to federal authorities along with mountain of forensic evidence linking them to human trafficking and extortion, the federal government launched a massive sweep across New York.

Sokolov was arrested at his Long Island compound forty-eight hours later, facing life in a maximum-security prison without parole.
Marcus Blake, sitting in his county jail cell, was formally indicted on secondary charges of conspiracy to commit murder, his bail revoked permanently.
With the legal guidance of Vincent’s high-powered corporate attorneys, my divorce from Marcus was finalized in record time. Every asset Marcus had attempted to hide was seized and transferred into a private trust under my sole name—a sum totaling over seven hundred thousand dollars.
On a warm, sunny morning six weeks after the shootout at the estate, my white cast was finally removed by Dr. Bell at the clinic.
I stood in front of the mirror, examining my healed left arm. A faint, thin scar remained where the surgical pins had been inserted, but the bone was completely solid, my movement fully restored.
Vincent walked into the room, wearing a tailored navy suit, looking radiant and completely recovered from his wound.
He stepped up behind me in the mirror, placing his hands comfortably on my shoulders, looking at my reflection with deep pride.
"How does it feel?" Vincent asked softly.
"It feels... real," I smiled, turning around in his embrace, placing my hands against his chest. "I'm whole again."
"You were always whole, Lena," Vincent corrected gently, kissing my forehead. "You just needed space to bloom."
He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a small velvet box.
"I have a surprise for you," he said.
I opened the box. Inside lay a set of golden brass keys attached to a leather keychain stamped with an address in Vermont.

"What is this?" I asked, looking up at him in wonder.
"A small bakery near Lake Champlain," Vincent smiled softly. "Fully equipped, fully funded, and waiting for its head baker."
