BEYOND THE SILENT MANSION / Chapter 8 / 10

Chapter 8 - The ConfrontationThe 40th floor of Clark Harbor Development Headquarters was buzzing with news reporters, board members, and security guards.

Benson Whitmore stood at the podium in the grand boardroom, wearing a expensive suit, addressing twenty nervous board members.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Benson announced, adjusting his microphone. "Due to Henry Clark’s tragic, permanent incapacity and deteriorating mental state, it is our duty to officially transfer total executive authority to my management team..."

BANG.

The heavy double oak doors of the boardroom were thrown open.

The entire room turned in shock.

Henry Clark stood in the doorway. He was dressed in a pristine charcoal suit, wearing leather shoes, holding a sleek wooden cane in his right hand. Beside him stood Leah, dressed in an elegant navy dress, her hand supporting his left arm.

Gasps echoed across the room. Photographers began flashing cameras frantically.

Benson’s face drained of every drop of color. "Henry?! You... you can't be here!"

"This is my company, Benson," Henry’s voice boomed through the room, clear, powerful, and full of command. "I built every wall of this building. And I am standing here to reclaim what is mine."

Henry took three deliberate, steady steps into the room, his cane clicking against the marble floor.

"Security!" Benson shrieked, backing away toward the windows. "Remove this man! He's mentally unstable!"

"No one touches him!" Frank Miller barked as he stepped into the room, accompanied by four armed Massachusetts State Troopers.

The lead state trooper stepped up to the podium, pulling out a pair of steel handcuffs. "Benson Whitmore, Diana Whitmore, you are under arrest for corporate fraud, conspiracy to commit murder, and the first-degree murder of Caroline Clark."

Panic erupted. Diana let out a sharp shriek, dropping her designer handbag as officers secured her arms behind her back. Benson tried to run toward the private executive exit, but Henry stepped into his path, blocking him with his cane.

"You stole my life, Benson," Henry said, looking down at his trembling brother-in-law with cold disdain. "Now you're going to spend the rest of yours in a cage."

The troopers slapped handcuffs onto Benson's wrists and dragged both him and Diana out of the boardroom amidst a blinding storm of media flashes.
