BENEATH THE RAIN AND GLASS / Chapter 10 / 10

Chapter 10 - The Heart That Never Walks AloneOne year after the night in the alley.

Farmacéutica Azteca held its annual charity gala in the grand ballroom of the city’s finest hotel. Hundreds of diplomats, doctors, and business leaders gathered to celebrate the successful launch of the affordable insulin initiative, which had already saved thousands of lives nationwide.

Valentina stood near the glass balcony overlooking the city lights. She looked breathtaking in a sleek, sapphire-blue gown, her hair flowing in soft elegant curls.

Beside her stood Diego, exceptionally handsome in a tailored tuxedo, his hand resting comfortably around her waist. Sofia, dressed in a sparkling white lace dress, was happily chatting with Mateo near the dessert table.

A prominent journalist approached Valentina with a microphone. "Ms. Herrera, your turnaround this year has been legendary. You saved your company, expanded your humanitarian efforts, and redefined your leadership. What was the turning point?"

Valentina looked at Diego, her eyes shining with deep, unconditional love. She reached down and took his hand, intertwining her fingers with his.

"The turning point," Valentina said into the microphone, her voice confident and warm, "was the moment I lost everything I thought mattered, and fell into the hands of a man who showed me what truly does."

The crowd applauded as the music swelled. Diego pulled Valentina into a gentle dance step under the soft ballroom chandeliers.

"You were wrong about one thing in that alley, Diego," Valentina whispered against his ear as they swayed together.

"What's that?" Diego asked softly, his eyes filled with devotion.

"You said you had nothing to offer me except three hundred pesos," she smiled, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes. "You gave me a home, a family, and a reason to love life again."

Diego leaned down, kissing her softly as the storm outside faded into a peaceful, starry night.
