Chapter 8 - The New Dawn

One year after our wedding, golden morning sunlight poured through the French doors of our master bedroom.

The room was warm, filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming jasmine and the soft sound of acoustic guitar music.

Julian stood beside the wooden crib, gently cradling our three-month-old baby girl, Eleanor—named in loving honor of my mother. Eleanor had her father’s kind hazel eyes and a thick tuft of dark brown curls, cooing happily as she clutched Julian’s thumb.

My father walked in carrying a warm pot of herbal tea and a freshly printed architectural blueprint, looking down at his granddaughter with a radiant, doting smile.

"Look at her, Isabella," my father whispered proudly, gently stroking Eleanor’s soft cheek. "She has her grandmother's brilliant smile."

"She has her grandfather's unyielding spirit," Julian smiled, resting his hand on my father’s shoulder.

I sat up on the sofa, wearing a soft cream robe, watching the three people I loved most in this world with a heart overflowing with boundless gratitude.
