Chapter 12 - Ambush at the Docks|

Alexander’s radio clicked open on his shoulder, his chief security officer’s frantic voice bleeding through the speaker.
"Boss! We have a breach at Pier 42! A shipment of medical supplies meant for the city clinics was intercepted by Iron Syndicate men. They claimed they were working on orders from the Lane family!"
Alexander’s face turned into a wall of solid ice.
"Victoria's father," Alexander growled, pulling his phone from his pocket. "He's making his move faster than I thought. He aligned with the Syndicate to strike at my logistics."
"I'm coming with you," I said immediately.
"No," Alexander refused flatly, turning toward the estate. "It's too dangerous, Sophia. You stay here with your family."
"I know how the Syndicate operates, Alexander!" I insisted, keeping pace with him as he marched toward his armored vehicles. "My father left behind journals. He wrote down their tactics, their pressure-point techniques, and how they fight in groups. If you go in there using conventional force, you're walking into a trap!"
Alexander paused at the door of his SUV, looking down at me for three agonizing seconds.
"Get in," he commanded.
Thirty minutes later, three black SUVs slammed to a stop outside an abandoned brick warehouse at Pier 42. Rain was pouring heavily, slicking the docks and filling the air with the smell of saltwater and diesel fuel.
Inside the warehouse, dozens of armed men wearing black armbands were stacking crates into the back of heavy trucks. At the far end of the room stood Victor Lane—Victoria’s father—a wealthy, arrogant man in a wet trench coat, talking directly to an elderly man with silver hair.

Master Chen.
"Ah, Alexander," Master Chen’s thin voice echoed off the steel girders as we stepped through the broken doors. "You brought the girl. How generous of you."
