Chapter 15 - The Boss's Justice

Silas looked up, his face pale and sweating, as Gabriel approached with the massive dog walking obediently at his side.
Brutus saw the man who had shocked him with the baton. A deep, rumbling growl vibrated in the dog's chest, but Gabriel placed a firm hand on his shoulder, keeping him steady.
"You stole from a blind child, Silas," Gabriel said coldly, staring down at the pathetic, bleeding man. "You dragged a mother across her own floor, and you tortured an animal that was simply defending its family."
"It was just business, Rossi!" Silas pleaded, blood dripping from his fingers onto the concrete. "I didn't know she was under your protection! I'll pay you whatever you want!"
"You don't have enough money to buy your life tonight," Gabriel replied, his voice devoid of any mercy.
Gabriel turned to his lieutenant. "Clear the cages. Call our contacts at the animal rescue foundations. Make sure every single animal in this hellhole gets medical attention and a safe home."
"Consider it done, Boss," the lieutenant nodded.
Gabriel looked back at Silas. He didn't pull a weapon. He didn't need to.
"You like putting things in cages, Silas?" Gabriel asked, a dark, terrifying smile touching the corners of his mouth. "Let's see how much you like it."
Gabriel gestured to his men. Two massive enforcers grabbed Silas by the arms, dragging him kicking and screaming toward the heavy, reinforced steel cage Brutus had just vacated.
"No! Please! Rossi, please!" Silas shrieked as they threw him roughly into the filthy enclosure. The heavy iron door slammed shut, the lock clicking into place with absolute finality.
"Weld the lock shut," Gabriel commanded casually, turning his back on the screaming man. "Leave him the water bowl. Call the police anonymous tip line tomorrow morning. Let the feds find him locked in his own fighting pit."
It was a brilliant, devastating punishment. Silas wouldn't die tonight, but his empire was burned to ashes, his freedom was gone, and he would spend the rest of his miserable life rotting in a federal prison, knowing a dog had put him there.

"Come on, big guy," Gabriel said softly to Brutus.
The massive dog limped slightly, his ribs bruised from the stun baton, but he followed the mafia boss willingly toward the open doors of the SUV. They were going back to the diner.
