Chapter 10 - The Unbroken SunTwo years after our wedding, golden morning sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors of our Beacon Hill master bedroom.

The room was warm, filled with the sweet fragrance of fresh lavender, roasted coffee, and soft acoustic piano music.
Julian was sitting in the cedar rocking chair beside the window, gently cradling our four-month-old baby girl, Eleanor—named in loving memory of my mother. Eleanor had her father’s kind hazel eyes and a soft tuft of dark curls, cooing happily as she clutched Julian’s thumb.
Barnaby lay contentedly at their feet, his tail thumping softly against the rug.
I walked over in my cream cashmere robe, wrapping my arms around Julian’s shoulders and resting my cheek against his temple.
Julian looked up, a radiant, peaceful smile touching his face as he kissed my lips.
"Look at our little doctor, Emily," Julian whispered lovingly.
"She has her father's beautiful, generous soul," I smiled, reaching down to gently stroke Eleanor’s soft cheek.
I looked out through the glass at the blooming green gardens below and the majestic historic skyline glowing under the morning sun.
Five years ago, I had stood shivering on the cold stone steps in the pouring rain, clutching my wet scrubs after being thrown out of my own graduation by people who believed I was nothing.
They had believed that arrogance, entitlement, and cruelty could extinguish my light.
They had never understood that the truth is an invincible fortress.
From the ashes of betrayal, I had risen to heal thousands of lives, claim my honor, and build an empire of love, justice, and everlasting peace.

Julian pulled me onto his lap, holding both Eleanor and me tight against his strong, beating heart.
The storm was gone forever. In its place stood an eternal, magnificent dawn—and our lives, our family, and our sanctuary were finally, gloriously whole.
