Chapter 7 - The Boardroom TakeoverThe confrontation on the porch turned into pure, chaotic exposure.

Lena turned on Derek like a wild animal, screaming at him as the realization hit her that her husband had gambled away her family’s future and framed her sister in the process.

“You stole from my father’s insurance?!” Lena yelled, slapping his arm. “You forged my mother’s name?!”

“I did it for us!” Derek yelled back, backing into the living room.

I didn't stay to watch them fight. I walked into the house, took my mother by the hand, and led her out to my waiting town car.

“Where are we going, Audrey?” my mother sobbed, clutching her sweater.

“We’re going to your new home, Mom,” I said softly.

Two hours later, we pulled up to a beautiful four-bedroom brick home in the quiet, upscale suburb of Grandview Heights—a home I had purchased cash three days prior.

The house featured a bright garden, a spacious kitchen, and a master bedroom on the first floor so my mother wouldn't have to climb stairs ever again.

As my mother walked through the sunlit living room, holding her Bible, she fell to her knees and wept tears of profound, humble repentance.

“Audrey... I let them treat you like dirt,” my mother sobbed, clutching my hands. “I was so weak...”

I knelt beside her, wrapping my arms around her shoulders. “The past is forgiven, Mom. But today, we start over.”
