Chapter 14 - A New HorizonThat evening, after the shop was closed and the courtyard was quiet, Julian led me down to the Charleston waterfront.

The sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of amber, violet, and deep rose. The Atlantic breeze whispered softly against our skin, carrying the scent of salt and freedom.

Julian stopped near the stone seawall, turning to face me. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, elegant velvet box.

My breath caught in my throat.

"Sarah," Julian said softly, his voice steady and full of a quiet, unshakable love. "From the moment you walked into my life, I knew you were the strongest, most resilient person I had ever met. You turned your pain into power, and your scars into armor. But you don't have to fight anymore. I want to spend the rest of my life making sure you only ever have to experience peace, joy, and unconditional love."

He dropped to one knee, opening the box to reveal a stunning, simple diamond ring that caught the last rays of the setting sun.

"Will you marry me?"

Tears welled in my eyes, but this time, they weren't tears of grief or trauma. They were tears of absolute, overwhelming grace.

I looked down at him, remembering the cold, dark water of that pool in Charlotte, remembering the lonely hospital room, remembering the suffocating weight of a family that tried to drown me. And then I looked at the bright, beautiful horizon stretching out endlessly before us.

"Yes," I whispered, a radiant smile breaking across my face. "Yes, Julian. A thousand times yes."
