Chapter 8 - THE RUIN OF THE STERLINGS

The hammer of justice fell upon the Sterling family with terrifying speed and precision.

By the next morning, the video of Vanessa hiding the ring, contrasted with the viral footage of her and Patricia

tearing Clara’s dress, was broadcast on every major news network. The public outrage was unprecedented.

Boycotts erupted against all Sterling Enterprises projects. Shareholders panicked, dumping their stocks, causing the

company’s valuation to plummet by eighty percent in a single day.

But the worst was yet to come.

At 2:00 PM, four police cruisers pulled up to the Sterling family mansion. Officers marched up the steps and

arrested Patricia and Vanessa in front of a crowd of flashing news cameras. They were handcuffed and led away,

Vanessa screaming in rage while Patricia wept hysterically into her ruined designer coat.

Daniel was left standing alone in the empty, silent mansion. His father had fled to a non-extradition country,

leaving behind a mountain of debt and legal liabilities.

Desperate, Daniel drove to Clara’s penthouse. He bypassed the lobby security by pleading and crying until the

head guard, out of pity, let him up.

When Daniel reached the penthouse doors, they opened to reveal Clara. She was dressed in a stunning, elegant

emerald silk dress, her hair perfectly styled, looking more beautiful and powerful than she ever had during their

marriage.

Daniel fell to his knees, clutching at the hem of her coat. “Clara... please. I was a fool. I was a coward. I

should have protected you. Please, give me one more chance. For Lily’s sake. She needs a father!”

Clara looked down at the man she had once loved. She felt no anger, only a profound sense of pity.

“Lily has a father figure in my father, Daniel,” Clara said, her voice calm and detached. “You didn't care about

being a father when you let your mother claw at my belly. You didn't care about being a husband when you watched

my dress get torn to pieces.”

“I can change! I swear I can change!” Daniel sobbed.

“It’s too late, Daniel,” Clara said, gently pulling her coat away from his grip. “The divorce papers are

finalized. Sign them, and maybe my father will leave you enough money to buy a ticket out of the city. If not... you

will be sleeping on the streets.”

She stepped back into her penthouse, and the heavy doors closed between them, shutting Daniel out of her life

May you like

forever.
