Chapter 7 - UNRAVELING THE SETUP

While the Sterlings were begging for mercy in the lobby of Vance Enterprises, Arthur’s elite security team was
busy uncovering the truth behind the "stolen" diamond ring. They had seized the security footage from the Plaza
Hotel and conducted a forensic sweep of Vanessa's dressing room.
By that afternoon, Clara was resting in her luxurious penthouse suite, holding baby Lily in her arms. Arthur
walked in, holding a sleek silver tablet.
“Look at this, Clara,” Arthur said, handing her the tablet.
On the screen, a crystal-clear video began to play. It was security footage from Vanessa's private dressing
room, taken just twenty minutes before the wedding ceremony. The video showed Vanessa standing in front of the
mirror, looking at her grandmother's heirloom canary diamond ring.
With a calculating, malicious smile, Vanessa took the ring off her finger and slipped it deep into the secret,
zippered compartment of her own bridal garment bag. She then walked out of the room, intentionally leaving the
door ajar, and waited for Clara to walk by.
Clara stared at the screen, a cold feeling settling in her chest. “She planned the whole thing. She wanted to
humiliate me in front of everyone so Daniel would finally divorce me.”
“Indeed,” Arthur said, his voice deadly calm. “She wanted to make you look like a common thief so they
could kick you out of the family without Daniel having to pay any alimony. They had no idea they were setting a
trap for themselves.”
“What do we do with this?” Clara asked, looking down at her sleeping daughter.
“We give it to the authorities,” Arthur replied. “Filing a false police report, grand larceny, conspiracy, and
public assault of a pregnant woman. I’ve already contacted the District Attorney. They are preparing the arrest
warrants as we speak.”
Clara closed her eyes, feeling a profound sense of relief. For years, she had let herself be treated like an
outsider, always doubting her own worth. But now, seeing the truth laid bare, she realized she was done playing the
victim.
“Let them face the full consequences, Father,” Clara said, her voice firm and resolute. “No mercy.”
“That’s my girl,” Arthur said, his eyes shining with pride. “The Sterling name will be nothing but a warning to
May you like
anyone who dares to cross a Vance.”
