Chapter 10 - VIVIAN’S UNRAVELING

Vivian’s aristocratic composure shattered completely under the weight of public exposure. Rushing toward the altar with her designer handbag raised like a weapon, she screamed at the photographers to stop filming. “Lies! Slander! She’s a disgruntled nobody trying to ruin our family name!” she shrieked, her voice losing its polished Connecticut veneer and devolving into a panicked screech.

I didn't flinch. I pulled a single certified wire transfer summary from the top of the pile and held it out toward her like a mirror. “Is $1.2 million routed through Cayman Islands shell company Sterling Horizon LLC slander, Vivian? Because federal prosecutors at the DOJ seem to think it’s wire fraud.” The color drained entirely from her face, and she stumbled backward, catching herself against a decorative stone pillar as the reality of her impending prison sentence crashed down upon her.
