THE SOUND OF HEALING / Chapter 10 / 10

Chapter 10 - Where Music ResidesAs Rowan stepped onto the grand stage, the auditorium exploded into thunderous applause. He bowed gracefully to the audience and the full orchestra behind him, then sat down at the magnificent Steinway grand piano at center stage.

He looked out into the front row, where Harper sat alongside Nurse Carla and Dr. Chen. Rowan smiled directly at her, then raised his hands above the keys.

The hall fell into dead silence.

Rowan struck the first chord—a deep, resonant, powerful note that reverberated through the wood of the hall. The music began soft and rhythmic, mimicking the steady, reassuring beep of a heart monitor.

Slowly, the violin section joined in, swelling into a soaring, breathtaking melody that captured the struggle, the fear, the pain, and ultimately the triumphant triumph of love over darkness.

Tears of pure happiness streamed down Harper’s cheeks as she listened to the music that had been born in Room 412.

When the final crescendo echoed through the hall, ending on a sweet, gentle piano chord, the entire audience rose to their feet in a massive, roaring standing ovation.

Rowan stood up from the piano bench, but instead of bowing alone, he walked down the stage steps and reached out his hand toward Harper.

Harper stepped forward, placing her hand in his. Rowan lifted her onto the stage, wrapping his arms around her waist, and kissed her passionately in front of the cheering thousands.

“You saved my music, Harper,” Rowan whispered into her ear over the roar of applause. “And you gave me my home.”

Harper smiled against his lips, holding him tight. “You saved me too, Rowan.”

Hand in hand, surrounded by music, light, and victory, they bowed together—knowing that no matter how dark or silent the world became, they would always hear the melody of each other’s hearts.
