Daniel stood at the head of the long mahogany table in a bespoke dark suit, a champagne glass in his hand, smiling arrogantly alongside Vanessa, who wore a sleek black evening dress and my stolen diamond earrings.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Daniel announced smoothly, projecting a slide deck onto the screen. “Today marks the complete restructuring of Mercer Enterprises. My wife, Claire, has stepped down from all operational duties, transferring her full voting control to—”
The heavy frosted-glass doors of the boardroom swung open.
