he sun rose over our Vermont estate, bathing the rolling green meadows and the
colorful autumn trees in a warm, golden light. On the spacious wrap-around porch of our
home, I sat in a comfortable wooden chair, sipping a cup of warm tea, a peaceful, radiant smile on my
face. Inside, I could hear the soft, rhythmic sound of Daniel playing a classical piece on the piano, the
music drifting through the open windows like a gentle breeze.
Nora walked up the porch steps, carrying a bouquet of fresh wildflowers from the garden, her
face glowing with happiness. "It’s absolutely beautiful here, Elise," she said, setting the flowers on the
rustic table beside me. "I’ve never seen you look so relaxed."

wooden chair. "No more family secrets, no more apologies for Camille's mistakes, and no more
smiling with knives behind my teeth."
Daniel walked out onto the porch, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and kissing my
temple. "The movers just finished setting up your private studio downstairs, sweetheart. Your new
designs are going to be spectacular."
I looked out over the quiet, peaceful valley, feeling a profound sense of gratitude and victory. The
price of my sister’s malice had been high, and the path to justice had been painful. But as I held my
