Chapter 7 - The Unmasking at the Family DinnerTwo months after I left, the annual Mercer Family Reunion dinner was held at a private dining room in downtown Columbus.

Norma and Daniel arrived wearing their finest clothes, attempting to maintain the illusion that everything was fine, telling relatives that I was "away on a business trip."

However, I stepped into the private dining room accompanied by Arthur Vance and two uniformed county sheriff deputies.

The entire extended family—uncles, aunts, and cousins—went quiet, dropping their forks in shock.

Norma stood up from her seat, her face turning pale. “Elena?! What are you doing here?! This is a private family event!”

Arthur Vance stepped forward, pulling a legal folder from his briefcase.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Arthur announced, his voice carrying to every corner of the room. “We are here to serve Mr. Daniel Mercer and Mrs. Norma Mercer with a formal civil complaint for credit fraud, unauthorized asset conversion, and illegal identity usage.”

The family members erupted into wild gasps and whispers!

“Credit fraud?!” Daniel’s uncle demanded, staring at Daniel. “Daniel, what is he talking about?!”
