Chapter 5 - The Confrontation at the Head of the Table

The heavy double glass doors of the executive boardroom swung open.
Daniel Carter walked in, wearing an expensive black suit and silk tie, attempting to maintain an aura of high-powered executive confidence. Walking beside him was Victoria, dressed in a beige designer belted wrap dress, carrying an alligator-skin portfolio.
"Good morning," Daniel began, projecting his rehearsed pitch voice as he stepped toward the central conference table. "We are here to present a transformative market opportunity for Carter Investments—"

Daniel’s jaw went slack. His eyes widened in pure, unadulterated horror as his briefcase slipped from his hand, hitting the plush carpet with a muffled thud.

Behind him, Victoria gasped loudly, her hands flying to her mouth in absolute, breathless terror.
"M-Madison...?!" Daniel stammered, his face turning ghostly white. "You... you're the CEO of Carter Investments?!"
