After testimony, Lena asked Alex to tell full story of their broken engagement.
He did.
Victor stole money.
Created shell account.
Forged Alex authorization.
Then showed Lena selective evidence.
Why?
Victor already loved Lena.
Alex had not known.
Victor removed him professionally and personally with one scheme.
Lena cried.
“So my entire marriage began with sabotage.”
“Not entire.”
“What?”
“You chose him later.”
She flinched.
“I’m not excusing. I’m saying don’t erase your agency because he lied.”
“You still defend my dignity after I destroyed yours.”
Alex smiled sadly.
“Maybe that’s why we failed the first time. I wanted you to trust me without enough proof. You wanted certainty too quickly.”
Mature pain.
Not fantasy.
They kissed months later.
