Chapter 11 - Bella Built a Name of Her Own

Bella Moore disappeared from celebrity gossip gradually. At first brands abandoned her. Then followers dropped. She stopped posting luxury content and began speaking about deceptive influencer contracts. Critics accused her of rebranding scandal as activism. Sometimes they were right. Bella admitted it.
“I needed work,” she said at a conference. “Then the work became real.”
She founded Moore Disclosure Lab, a small nonprofit helping creators understand equity deals, sponsorship liability, and name licensing.
Evelyn’s foundation funded one program after independent review.
Marcus nearly choked.
“You are funding the mistress.”
“I’m funding financial education.”
“Same person.”
“Different category.”
Bella never asked Evelyn personally.
That mattered.
Three years after the gala, they appeared on the same panel about reputational capital. The moderator tried to create drama.
“Bella, what was it like sitting beside the woman whose husband you were dating?”
Bella answered, “Embarrassing because I had done something embarrassing.”
No deflection.
Then the moderator asked Evelyn whether she considered Bella a victim.
“Victim and participant are not mutually exclusive.”
Bella nodded.
Afterward she said, “Thank you.”
“For?”
“Not rescuing me from my own responsibility.”
“Would have been strange.”
They laughed.
