Chapter 5 - BUILDING THE FIRST SHELTER
With daylight fading fast and dark storm clouds gathering over the ocean, Luca directed their survival efforts with military precision. Despite his injured ribs and the bleeding cut across his hand from the plane crash, he used a sharp piece of torn aircraft skin to hack down palm fronds and sturdy driftwood branches. Elena, shaking off her initial shock, worked alongside him in tense silence, weaving the large leaves together to construct a lean-to shelter against the edge of the tree line. Working together out of sheer necessity, they erected a sturdy makeshift roof just as the first heavy drops of tropical rain began to hiss against the dry sand.
