Chapter 9 - The Handcuff VerdictSix months later, the criminal trial of State v. Victor Bennett concluded at the Superior Court.

The courtroom was packed to maximum capacity with media reporters, construction workers, and family members.

Victor stood at the defense table in an orange prison jumpsuit, his posture slouched, his face gaunt, his arrogance completely shattered.

The high-definition security video from Dad’s dining room was played on large screens for the jury—showing the exact moment Victor smashed the wine bottle over Daniel’s head while shouting threats.

The jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning a verdict of GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS.

The judge slammed his gavel down, delivering a scathing sentence from the bench.

“Victor Bennett,” the judge declared firmly. “Your actions represent a terrifying combination of unchecked privilege, physical violence, and financial corruption. You believed your family’s wealth made you immune to the law.”

The judge sentenced Victor Bennett to eight years in state prison without option for early parole for felony assault with a deadly weapon, extortion, and grand financial fraud.

I met his gaze with calm, unshakeable peace, watching silently as my brother was led away through the heavy iron doors forever.
