Chapter 4 - The Seizure at the GatesBy eight o'clock in the morning, two commercial moving vans and a team of county sheriffs arrived at Dadâs suburban estate.

Dad ran out onto the front porch in his silk bathrobe, shouting at the officers, pointing a trembling, enraged finger at the legal notices being posted on the iron gates.
âThis is my house!â Dad roared, his face turning an angry shade of purple. âI am Arthur Bennett! You cannot touch this property!â
The lead sheriff stepped forward, handing Dad an official notice of residential foreclosure.
âMr. Bennett,â the sheriff announced calmly. âThis property was pledged as primary collateral for the twenty-million-dollar Hale Trust loan in 2022. Due to default provisions activated last night by the managing trustee, Ms. Claire Bennett, you have forty-eight hours to vacate these premises.â
Dadâs knees buckled. He clutched the porch railing, his eyes wide with utter, disbelieving horror.
âClaire...?â Dad gasped, his voice breaking into a pathetic whisper. âClaire did this...?!â
âMs. Bennett has also turned over the dining room security camera footage to Detective Ruiz,â the sheriff added coldly. âAn arrest warrant has been issued for your son, Victor, for felony assault with a deadly weapon and extortion.â
