Chapter 5 - A Mother’s HopeWhile the Sterling family plotted their revenge, Daniel was focused on something far more important.

At St. Jude’s Hospital, Maria sat beside her mother’s bed, holding her hand while a dialysis machine hummed softly nearby.

The door opened, and Daniel stepped inside, carrying a large bouquet of yellow sunflowers—Rosa’s favorite.

Maria stood up in surprise. “Daniel? What are you doing here?”

“I spoke with the chief of nephrology, Maria,” Daniel said warmly, setting the flowers on the table. “Your mother is being transferred to the private surgical wing today. Dr. Aris—the top kidney specialist in the country—is taking over her case.”

Rosa looked at the handsome young man in shock, then at her daughter. “Maria... who is this young man?”

“He’s... a friend, Mom,” Maria stammered, turning to Daniel. “Daniel, I can’t accept this! The private wing costs thousands of dollars a day!”

“Maria,” Daniel took her hands, looking into her eyes with deep sincerity. “Nine years ago, you gave me ten dollars when I had nothing. That ten dollars bought me the time to get to my interview, land my first coding job, and build everything I have today. You didn't just buy me a meal, Maria—you saved my life.”

Tears welled up in Maria’s eyes.

“Consider this me passing the grace along,” Daniel smiled gently. “Your mother’s medical bills are paid in full. Forever.”

Rosa began to cry, reaching out to bless Daniel’s hands, while Maria looked at him with a gratitude so profound no words could express it.
