Chapter 4 - The Black Storm Arrives

lay on the cold wooden floor of the kitchen, tasting the blood on my split lip. I didn't cry
out, nor did I show any sign of fear. I simply turned my head, looked up at the shaking barrel
of my stepfather’s gun, and let out a calm, quiet smile. "I already told you who I am, Frank. But you
chose not to listen."
"You're a nobody!" Frank yelled, his voice cracking under the weight of his own escalating
hysteria. "I'm a lieutenant in this town! I make the rules here! Kyle, call the station. Tell them to send a
transport unit. We’re taking her down to the precinct, and we’re going to search her car. She’s
probably carrying illegal military gear."
Kyle reached for his phone, but before his fingers could touch the screen, a low, powerful rumble
began to shake the entire house. It wasn't the sound of thunder or a passing truck. It was the deep,
coordinated roar of multiple high-displacement V8 engines speeding down our quiet suburban street.
The rattling in the glass kitchen cabinets grew louder, the tea kettle on the stove vibrating against the
burners.
"What the hell is that?" Frank muttered, lowering his gun slightly as he glanced toward the front
window. "Is there construction on the main road?"
The answer came with the screech of heavy, heavy-duty tires tearing across the manicured green
lawn of our front yard. Through the kitchen window, we saw five massive, unmarked black SUVs
storm onto the property, their polished black paint gleaming under the afternoon sun. They did not
stop at the curb. They drove directly onto the grass, forming a tactical blockade that completely cut off
the house from the rest of the neighborhood. The doors of the vehicles flew open simultaneously, and
a dozen highly armed federal tactical operators in black combat gear, carrying assault rifles and
wearing bold yellow 'US MARSHALS' and 'FBI' patches, poured out of the vehicles.
"Oh my god," Kyle whispered, dropping his phone onto the counter as his face went completely
white. "Dad... there are guys with rifles outside. A lot of them."
Before Frank could even process the sight, the heavy oak front door of the house was hit with a
tactical ramming device, exploding inward with a deafening crash. "Federal agents! Drop your
weapons! Hands on your heads!" a booming voice echoed through the house, sending a wave of
absolute terror through the kitchen.
