Chapter 2 - The DNA of DestinyThe silence in the grand dining room of Bellamy House was absolute. Adrian Vale stood frozen, his eyes darting between my face and the small silver locket resting against my chest. He reached out, his hand trembling, and gently touched the metal.

"Evelyn..." he murmured, a tear escaping his eyes and running down his weathered cheek. "It can't be."
"Uncle Adrian, please!" Celeste hissed, her face contorting with panic. "You are letting a common waitress manipulate you! We don't even know who this girl is. She’s probably been planning this for months!"
Adrian slowly turned his head toward Celeste, and the sheer coldness in his eyes made her take a step back. "Quiet, Celeste. Not another word."
He turned back to me, his voice returning to that soft, desperate whisper. "Mara... please. I need you to come with me. We need to do a test. A DNA test. Right now."
"I understand, Mr. Vale," I said, my voice calm and collected. "But before we go anywhere, I think we should address the financial records of this restaurant."
"The financial records?" Adrian blinked, confused.
I reached into my apron pocket and pulled out a small, encrypted USB drive. "For the past six months, Celeste has been siphoning money from Bellamy House. She has been forcing the staff to pay out of pocket for broken dishes, skimming their hard-earned tips, and ordering rare vintages of wine under fake charity accounts to resell them on the black market."
Celeste gasped, her face turning an ugly shade of red. "You lying bitch! That is a complete fabrication!"
"I have the digital ledger, Celeste," I said, looking her dead in the eye. "I manage the restaurant's inventory software. Every transaction, every forged signature, and every deleted invoice is backed up on this drive. And my phone has been recording your confession from the service station for the last thirty minutes."
Adrian took the USB drive from my hand, his knuckles turning white as his grip tightened around the plastic. He turned to his head of security, a burly man named Marcus who had just walked into the dining room.
"Marcus," Adrian commanded. "Secure this restaurant. No one enters, and no one leaves. Especially not Celeste."
May you like
"Uncle Adrian!" Celeste screamed as Marcus's men stepped in front of her. "You can't do this to me! I am your family!"
"We will find out who my real family is in exactly two hours," Adrian said coldly, before turning back to me. "Mara, please. My private car is waiting outside."
