Chapter 8 - The Rebuilt Horizon

Six months passed, and the bitter winter cold gave way to the radiant, sun-drenched beauty of spring.
Elias formally retired from all private syndicate operations, fully transitioning the Vance conglomerate into an international maritime infrastructure and humanitarian disaster-relief foundation.
We left Manhattan behind, purchasing a magnificent, hundred-acre private coastal estate in Newport, Rhode Island. The estate was a breathtaking sanctuary of sprawling green lawns, towering oak trees, and historic stone terraces overlooking the sparkling blue Atlantic Ocean.
Grace and Lily were now seven months old—healthy, chubby-cheeked, and bursting with energy. They had their mother's hazel eyes and sweet smiles, but they had inherited their adoptive father's bold, adventurous spirit.
Every morning, Elias would take the twins out to the wide stone veranda, holding them in his arms as the salty ocean breeze rustled their soft dark curls.
I walked out onto the terrace carrying a tray of fresh iced tea and warm lemon scones, wearing a soft white sundress that danced in the wind.
"Look who's awake, Commander," I teased gently, setting the tray on the teak table.
Elias smiled—a radiant, handsome smile that lit up his entire face. He was dressed in a comfortable navy linen shirt and khaki trousers, looking rested, peaceful, and completely happy.
"Grace just said her first word, Ava," Elias beamed proudly, kissing the baby’s forehead.
"What did she say?"

"Dada," Elias whispered, his eyes shining with pure, unadulterated devotion.
My heart swelled with boundless love as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, kissing his cheek.
