Chapter 6 - Tearing Down the Empire“What are you going to do, Ethan?” Eleanor challenged, raising her chin arrogantly. “I am your mother! You wouldn't dare touch me!”
“You stopped being my mother the moment you ordered a hit on my daughter,” I replied coldly.
I turned to Dominic. “Hand the state prosecutors the encrypted drive containing Victoria’s bank logs, the surveillance footage, and Rossi’s wire transfers. Include the recorded wiretaps from Rossi’s phone regarding the lakefront land fraud.”
Rossi gasped, turning pale. “Ethan! Wait! We can negotiate! I’ll give you my holdings in East Chicago!”
“You’re going to federal prison for attempted murder, conspiracy, and racketeering, Rossi,” I said, turning my back on him. “And you’re going to spend the rest of your life behind bars.”
Two police cruisers, summoned by Dominic five minutes earlier, pulled into the circular driveway outside, their red and blue lights flashing through the tall windows.
Federal agents and local detectives flooded into the dining room, holding arrest warrants for Julian Rossi, Victoria, and Eleanor Sterling.
Eleanor stood up frantically as a female officer pulled her arms behind her back, snapping steel handcuffs around her wrists.
“Ethan! You can’t do this to me!” Eleanor shrieked, struggling against the cuffs as she was led toward the door. “I did this for you! I built this empire for you!”
“You built an empire on blood and lies, Eleanor,” I said without looking back. “And tonight, it burned to the ground.”
Within two hours, news outlets across the city broke the explosive scandal: “Billionaire Real Estate Tycoon Eleanor Sterling and Rival Boss Julian Rossi Arrested in Shocking Federal Murder-for-Hire Plot.”
