Chapter 7 - THE MASTER OF THE HOUSE"I said, get out of my house!" Daniel’s roar echoed through the high ceilings of the estate.

The guests, realizing they were witnessing a catastrophic family meltdown, quickly excused themselves and shuffled out of the room, leaving only Daniel, Vanessa, Chloe, and me.

Vanessa’s desperation turned into pure, unadulterated venom. She realized the game was up. The pregnancy lie, her ultimate shield, had been shattered in front of Daniel’s peers. She looked at me, her eyes wild with a hatred so intense it was almost physical.

"You old bitch!" she screamed, lunging toward me.

Daniel instantly stepped between us, grabbing her arm and twisting it back. "Do not touch her!"

"She set me up, Daniel!" Vanessa shrieked, tears of rage streaming down her face. "She’s been planning this from the start! She’s a manipulative, jealous old woman who can't stand the fact that you love someone else more than her!"

"I don't love you," Daniel said, his voice cold and flat as stone. "I don't even know who you are. You lied about a child, Vanessa. You stole from my mother. You abused her in my own home."

"Your home?" Chloe laughed, stepping forward, her usual lazy demeanor replaced by a sharp, ugly defense. "This house is going to be ours anyway! Vanessa has the signed pre-marital agreement that guarantees her a share of this estate if the wedding is called off within thirty days of the date!"

Daniel frowned. "What are you talking about? I never signed any such agreement."

"Oh, but you did," Vanessa sneered, wiping her face. She pulled her phone out and opened a document, showing a digital signature. "You signed it last week, Daniel. Along with the software licensing agreements. You were so tired, you didn't even read the attachments, did you? You're a genius with computers, but you're an idiot with women."

Daniel stared at the screen, his face turning pale. She had slipped a fraudulent clause into a pile of business documents he had signed during an all-night coding session. It was a classic corporate trap.

"If you call off the wedding," Vanessa whispered, her voice returning to its chilling, confident tone, "I get fifty percent of this estate. Or... we can still get married, you can put this old bag in a home, and we can live happily ever after. What's it going to be, Daniel? Your mother’s pride, or fifteen million dollars?"

Daniel looked crushed. He was a brilliant businessman, but he had been outmaneuvered by a pair of ruthless grifters. He looked at me, his eyes filled with a desperate apology. "Mom... I'm so sorry. I... I didn't see it."

I stood up from my chair. I walked over to my son and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"It's alright, Daniel," I said, my voice steady and strong. "You don't need to apologize."

I turned to Vanessa. "You think you've won, Vanessa. You think you're the master of this house because of a fraudulent signature on a digital document."

"It's legally binding, Eleanor," Vanessa mocked. "Your son’s lawyers can't touch it without a five-year court battle that will ruin his company's reputation."

"Perhaps," I said, pulling a small remote control from my dress pocket. "But a signature obtained through fraud is void under federal law. And unlike you, Vanessa... I have the entire conspiracy on tape."
