Chapter 16 - The Tipping Point|

By midnight, the news of the failed intrusion at the Fairmount house reached the top-floor penthouse of the Harrison building in Center City.

Michael Harrison sat behind his massive glass desk, staring at Amber, who stood across from him looking pale and nervous.

"They failed?" Michael asked, his voice scary in its quietness.

"The... the doctor was there, Michael," Amber stammered, holding her iPad with trembling hands. "Dr. Brooks intercepted them outside the house. He... he injured Marcus."

Michael slowly stood up from his leather chair.

He walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the glowing lights of Philadelphia, his hands folded behind his back. His empire was slipping through his fingers. The federal task force had froze two of his shipping docks three hours ago, his legal team was drowning in Catherine’s filings, and now a trauma doctor was standing between him and his family.

"Bring me Henry Sterling," Michael commanded softly.

"The lawyer?" Amber blinked. "Michael, Henry Sterling was Judge Vance’s closest friend. He has deep connections in the federal court system—"

"I don't care about his connections," Michael snapped, turning around to face her, his gray eyes flashing with a terrifying, unhinged fury. "Tell Sterling that if Catherine doesn't withdraw the separation filing by noon tomorrow, I will release the sealed records from her father's 2018 judicial review."

Amber gasped softly. "Michael... those records would destroy her father's legacy. It would strip her of the land trust."

"I gave her a choice, Amber," Michael said coldly, turning back to the window. "She chose war."
