MY DAUGHTER FELL FROM THE WEDDING BALCONY... BUT THE REAL KILLER WAS SITTING AT OUR FAMILY TABLE

CHAPTER 1 – THE FALL

CHAPTER 1 – THE FALL

The Williams family owned almost everything that mattered.

Hotels.

Banks.

Airlines.

Hospitals.

Politicians smiled when they entered our boardroom.

Presidents shook my hand.

For thirty years, I believed power could protect the people I loved.

I was wrong.

The Royal Crown Hotel sparkled beneath thousands of crystal lights.

More than four hundred guests filled the grand ballroom.

Television crews waited outside.

Every major news outlet wanted a glimpse of what they called the wedding of the decade.

My daughter, Emily Williams, was marrying the son of another billionaire family.

The merger between our companies would create the largest luxury empire in America.

Everyone celebrated.

Everyone smiled.

Except Emily.

I noticed it during rehearsal the night before.

She hugged me longer than usual.

"Dad..."

Her voice barely rose above a whisper.

"If something strange happens tomorrow..."

I laughed softly.

"Nothing's going to happen."

She forced a smile.

"I hope you're right."

I kissed her forehead and left.

Those were the last peaceful words we ever shared.

The next morning, I walked through the hotel's marble lobby carrying the bouquet Emily had chosen herself.

Deep red roses.

Her favorite.

Behind me walked my security detail, attorneys, executives, and family members.

Everything was perfect.

Exactly on schedule.

Then...

CRASH!

The sound exploded through the enormous lobby.

It wasn't glass.

It wasn't furniture.

It sounded...

Human.

Every conversation stopped.

Every head turned upward.

Something white had crashed onto the polished marble floor.

For a split second...

No one moved.

The white fabric spread across the floor like a broken angel's wings.

Blood slowly crept across the marble.

My heart stopped.

I dropped the bouquet.

The roses scattered in every direction.

"No..."

I walked forward.

Slowly.

My legs suddenly felt too heavy.

The security team tried to stop me.

"Mr. Williams—"

I shoved them aside.

The woman lay face down.

Her wedding dress was torn.

One shoe was missing.

Dark hair covered her face.

Please...

Please don't be her.

I knelt beside the body.

My hands trembled.

I gently turned her over.

Time froze.

Emily.

My little girl.

Her forehead was bleeding.

Her lips were pale.

Her eyes remained closed.

"Emily..."

No response.

I touched her cheek.

Still warm.

"Oh God..."

I pulled her into my arms.

Blood stained my expensive suit.

I didn't care.

"Emily!"

Nothing.

Not even a whisper.

Then I heard footsteps behind me.

Lots of footsteps.

But nobody rushed to help.

Nobody called for an ambulance.

Nobody screamed.

Why?

I slowly looked up.

My younger brother, Richard Williams, stood there with several members of our company's board.

Perfect suits.

Calm expressions.

Watching.

As if they had expected this.

Richard sighed.

"What a tragedy."

His voice contained no emotion.

No panic.

No grief.

Just...

Disappointment.

I stared at him.

"What are you waiting for?"

He glanced at the wedding guests gathering around us.

"The ceremony begins in fifteen minutes."

I blinked.

"What?"

"The guests are already here."

He adjusted his cufflinks.

"We can't allow today's event to damage the company's reputation."

For a moment...

I couldn't understand what he had just said.

"My daughter is dying!"

Richard nodded politely.

"And that's unfortunate."

Then he smiled.

"But the shareholders come first."

Something inside me snapped.

I stood up and grabbed him by the collar.

"If she dies..."

"I'll kill you."

Not another word.

Just those four words.

His smile never disappeared.

Instead...

He leaned close enough that only I could hear him.

"You can't."

I frowned.

"Because..."

He looked toward the arriving board members.

"...you aren't the Chairman anymore."

My blood ran cold.

"What did you say?"

Richard straightened his jacket.

"The board voted this morning."

"They removed you."

"Effective immediately."

I laughed.

"No."

"You forged the vote."

"Our attorneys are here."

"Our directors are here."

"Everyone signed."

I looked around.

No one denied it.

Not one person.

Every face avoided mine.

Every executive I had trusted for decades...

Stood beside Richard.

Waiting.

Watching.

As security gently stepped between us.

One of my own lawyers approached.

His hands shook as he handed me an envelope.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Williams."

Inside...

Official documents.

Board resolution.

Emergency vote.

CEO removed.

Chairman removed.

Voting result...

Approved.

Time of execution:

8:00 A.M.

I checked my watch.

8:01.

Emily had fallen...

Exactly one minute later.

This wasn't an accident.

It wasn't coincidence.

It was a plan.

And I had walked straight into it.

Just then...

A faint cough escaped from Emily's lips.

I dropped to my knees beside her again.

Her fingers moved.

Barely.

She struggled to lift one trembling hand.

Her bloody fingers clutched my sleeve.

Her lips moved.

I leaned closer.

She whispered only three broken words.

"Uncle... pushed... me..."

Then...

May you like

Her hand fell.

And the monitor carried by the arriving paramedics released one long, terrifying tone.
