Chapter 4

The next day, news of the charity party became the biggest shock in the city's financial history. The heir not only lost his status, but also faced the evidence of crimes my father had accumulated over the years. His family company declared bankruptcy overnight after all the investment capital was withdrawn.

I stood before the mirror in my private office, touching the fading bruise under my eye. Those around me saw it as a scar, but I saw it as a "medal" of awakening.

I had once thought I needed to be discreet, to be humble to protect the family's image. But last night, I understood: in the world of predators, kindness without the power to protect it is merely food for the beasts.

My father entered, placing a new file on the desk – the complete control of the corporation that he had just officially transferred to me.

"Are you ready to take the wheel?" he asked.

I looked out the window, where the city was still functioning as if nothing had happened. Those who had mocked me that night were now lined up outside my office, awaiting mercy.

I picked up my pen and signed my first decision.

"I'm not just going to take the wheel," I replied, a smile returning to my lips—a smile no longer timid, but the cold sharpness of a ruler. "I'm going to reset the rules of the game."

I didn't need anyone's pity. I had the power, and this time, I wouldn't let anyone touch me—or any other woman—so roughly again.

The office door opened, and my assistant entered with a look of awe. My new life, truly, began here.

The End.
