Chapter 8 - The Video

Jason frowned, tapping the video thumbnail on his screen.

The media file opened smoothly.

The footage was shot from a high-altitude aerial perspective, crisp and clear.

It showed the helicopter hovering over the open Atlantic Ocean.

The side door slid open.

Eleanor stood near the frame, her white shawl blowing in the gale.

Then, the camera zoomed in with chilling optical clarity.

It captured Jason stepping behind her, placing both hands on her chest, and violently launching her into the abyss.

The video froze on a clear frame of Jason’s face as he smirked down at the water.

Jason’s heart stopped.

The glass of aged scotch slipped from his numb fingers, shattering against the marble floor.

Amber liquid and crystal shards scattered across his polished shoes.

His breath caught in his throat, a cold, suffocating wave of terror paralyzing his limbs.

Before he could process the video, his phone chimed a second time.

A text message appeared below the file:

ā€œCheck the master balcony, Jason.ā€

Jason stumbled backward from the island, his knees shaking uncontrollably.

He backed out of the kitchen, his eyes fixed on the massive glass doors leading out to the penthouse terrace.

Slowly, step by terrified step, he approached the glass.

The heavy velvet drapes blew gently in the evening air.

Standing on the terrace, bathed in the pale moonlight, was a figure dressed in a rain-soaked black coat.

The figure turned around slowly.

It was Eleanor.
