Chapter 5 - The Flight Plan

Jason immediately took control of the wedding and honeymoon arrangements.

He envisioned a private, quiet ceremony followed by an exclusive retreat.

"An isolated island in the Keys," Jason whispered as they relaxed in her sunroom.

"Just the ocean, a private villa, and a week where no one in the world can intrude on us."

Eleanor’s imagination filled in the romance.

She agreed to every detail, signing checks and authorizing charters without a second thought.

On the day of their nuptials, they held a simple ten-minute ceremony at a private air hangar.

Jason then announced his final wedding surprise.

"A private helicopter tour over the coast before we land at the island estate," he announced, kissing her hand.

Only four people boarded the sleek, twin-engine aircraft: Eleanor, Jason, a quiet pilot named Miller, and a solemn notary named Arthur Webb.

The helicopter lifted off, its rotors chopping through the humid coastal air.

Twenty minutes into the flight, they made a brief touchdown on a remote, private helipad situated on a tiny coral cay.

Jason produced a thick manila folder from his leather briefcase.

"Just a few administrative formalities, my love," Jason explained smoothly, placing the papers on a folding table.

"Now that we're legally husband and wife, this consolidates our travel insurance and estate management."

"It ensures neither of us faces bureaucratic hurdles if an emergency occurs while we're overseas."

Eleanor barely skimmed the dense legal jargon.

She trusted her new husband completely.

She signed her name wherever his finger guided her.

Arthur Webb, the notary, promptly applied his official embossed seal to every page.

Jason’s hands trembled slightly as he slid the signed documents back into his briefcase.

The paperwork was a binding, immediate transfer of her liquid accounts and property power-of-attorney upon her death.

He had secured the kingdom.
