Chapter 4 - The Golden Trap

From that morning onward, Jason ensured the romantic illusion never wavered.

He spent nearly every evening at her estate, cooking dinners, holding her close on the veranda, and playing classic vinyl records.

He kissed her brow, whispered sweet assurances into her ear, and told her that age was merely a metric created by small minds.

"You deserve to be happy, Eleanor," he would whisper as they watched the sunset over her gardens.

"You've taken care of the world. Let me take care of you."

Eleanor fell completely into his web.

Her pragmatic business instincts, sharpened over fifty years of corporate warfare, melted under the warmth of his simulated affection.

Her close legal advisor, Marcus Vance, urged caution during their monthly audit.

"Eleanor, this young man has no documented assets or stable career," Marcus warned across the mahogany conference table.

"I strongly advise a comprehensive prenuptial agreement before this proceeds any further."

Eleanor waved her hand dismissively, her eyes glowing with newfound youth.

"Marcus, for fifty years I have evaluated every human interaction through contracts and ledgers," she said firmly.

"For once in my life, I am going to trust my heart. Do not bring this up again."

Marcus swallowed his protest, realizing his employer was beyond logical persuasion.

Three months after their first meeting, Jason knelt on the marble floor of her grand foyer.

He held out a vintage diamond ring.

"Make me the happiest man alive, Eleanor," he pleaded.

She did not hesitate for a single second.

"Yes," she whispered, tears of joy filling her eyes.
