Chapter 1: The Blue Cup

The sound of sirens shattered the chaos in the kitchen.

Paramedics rushed inside, carefully lifting the little boy from the cold tile floor as his father watched in desperate fear. His small body trembled, his breathing was shallow, but he was still conscious.

“Stay with me, buddy. You're going to be okay,” his father whispered, squeezing his son's hand.

The woman stood frozen in the corner, her face pale and her lips trembling.

“I didn't poison him,” she murmured weakly. “I swear... I didn't.”

Police officers arrived moments later.

The father immediately handed over the sealed plastic bag containing the blue cup.

“This is what he drank from,” he said firmly. “And that powder was underneath the cup.”

One of the officers carefully examined the evidence.

“We'll have it tested immediately.”

As the boy was rushed to the hospital, the father shot one last furious glance at the woman.

“If anything happens to him...” he began, his voice cracking.

“I love him too,” she interrupted, tears finally streaming down her face. “I would never hurt him.”

But her words disappeared into the silence as the ambulance doors slammed shut behind them.

At the hospital, doctors worked quickly.

The hours felt like days.

Finally, a physician stepped into the waiting room.

“He's stable,” she said. “It wasn't a lethal poison. It appears to have been a strong industrial cleaning chemical—dangerous, but not something intended to be used as poison.”

The father frowned.

“A cleaning chemical?”

“Yes. There's a chance this was an accident.”

For the first time, doubt crept into his mind.
