Grace proposed comprehensive settlement.

I would receive forty-five percent of Hale Hospitality after adjustments, Victor thirty-two, children’s trust twenty-three.

Riverstone sold.

Company reimbursed improper transfers.

Independent board governance.

Victor resigned CEO for three years but retained possibility of return after compliance review.

Employee compensation fund established.

Mutual non-disparagement.

No gag order about truthful testimony.

Victor refused.

“Forty-five percent? She’ll control me forever.”

Not control.

Equity.

But he could not distinguish.

He countered twenty-five.

We declined.

Then regulators assessed preliminary penalties and opened formal labor actions.

Lenders tightened terms.

Board threatened to remove him permanently.

Suddenly settlement looked different.

Victor called Sophie.

She recorded call legally in her state.

He asked her to persuade me.

“Your mother is destroying your inheritance.”

Sophie said, “Maybe stop making it about money.”

“You’re too young.”

“Maybe.”

Then Victor said, “She wouldn’t have anything without me.”

Sophie replied, “Dad, she literally gave you the first money.”

Silence.

I cried when I heard.
